The Two Fatalities Revealed in Brown University Shooting as Police Press On With Hunt for Killer.

Two students who lost their lives in the weekend's violent attack in Providence were being remembered Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s branch of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a online post.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a police operation at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a lecture hall in the building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a handgun, a police source informed the media outlet.

Officers that raided the hotel seized two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was arrested, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was allowed to go home, said the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in serious yet stable state, and one remained in critical care, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Additional Memorials

Cook was remembered at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, companions, and peers and lament the passing of his promising future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the nation’s seventh-oldest university with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, took place amid one of at least nearly 400 mass shootings reported in the US so far in this year, according to statistics.
