Resurgent Medvedev Wins First Trophy in Over Two Years

Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial break points in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
