Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they remain in contention to reclaim the urn following the initial matches.

That will not be happening during this tour, after the hosts' dominant triumph in Adelaide put the hosts 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

The loyal traveling fans, the vocal contingent, have thousands of supporters making the journey for the final two Tests in New South Wales and Victoria.

Furthermore, other tour groups who will be vacationing overseas, as well as loved ones planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The Ryding Siblings

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are four such fans.

The four siblings had their flights and tickets arranged for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", dreaming of a rare England series success.

Sadly, they've observed Australia outplay the visitors in just 11 days from their residence in the north of England.

"People in the office has been making comments regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"The hope was that we would have something to play for still when we got there."

Lowered Expectations

Hope was abundant regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a triumph on Australian soil prior to the first ball.

Yet now they are staring down the barrel of prolonging a streak without victory in the country to 19 consecutive Tests when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

The tourists - and their followers - will be hoping to sidestep a clean sweep.

One sibling noted the "entertainment" of head coach the positive style of play in the past couple of seasons had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for followers of the team.

However, the group said they had realistic outlooks for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "some resilience".

"All analysts alludes to it, but it all comes down to fortitude. 'The aggressive approach has been elevated to a term now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"During a long match, you should hunker down. Wafting outside 'sixth stump' areas has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is mainly the fault the batting lineup."

Future Prospects

Asked whether he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, Sam said: "It appears the Aussies are just too good right now."

"It will require more than one player that delivers for the team and produces a match-winning display."

Even with the series lost, the group remains excited about the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience nonetheless," said Katie. "We have to go with that attitude."

"Of course, it's a let-down we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount by now."

"We plan to savor celebrating the holidays overseas. Additionally, it's our first experience away from home during the festive period."

An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"If all else fails, there's always golf to fall back on," Katie concluded.
