Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
