Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Known For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

US performer Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved programs including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a message.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He starred as the character Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.

Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a comedy group of six named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," he shared online.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
