The British tennis star secured the most important victory of his professional journey by coming back from a lost first set to beat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the early stage of the Paris Masters.

Although he had earlier beaten Alcaraz on two separate matches, this triumph marks Norrie's initial win over a current world No 1.

"Bouncing back from a physical setback last year, I was defeated in the initial match of qualifying rounds here. I just sought to embrace my tennis in the latter part of the year. To achieve a win like this, it's the biggest victory of my tennis journey, my initial victory over the global number one and probably the strongest athlete in the sport right now."

The British player, positioned 31st in the world, also stopped Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine straight final appearances and 17 successive premier event victories, which marked the best series of outcomes in the Spanish star's young professional path.
