Area Police
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police say initial examinations indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its source; officials are currently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for details.
An important political figure commented the incident made him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
